I dug up this Lenin’s Tomb quote from 2006 that presents a different angle to this Saddam-as-child thing.
Violence belongs, so much is apparent, to the White Man. Violence in ‘our’ hands is rational, instrumental, necessary, noble, compassionate even. In ‘theirs’ it is no more dignified than a tantrum, and no more compassionate than ritual sacrifice. It is a result of infantilism or some such thing.
See the double standard here?
I’m cleaning my apartment today, so the new Saturday cometh tomorrow.
